It was autumn of 1998 when I visited several Ashland cafes and got permission to photograph people working behind the counters. Using the images for reference, I painted seven small, horizontal paintings most of which are 24"x12". The Schedule shows a young man and a young woman studying the week's work schedule. Pastry, coffee, a blender, tea boxes, juices, and other food business clutter contrast with the warm glow on the walls.The scene has a youthful, casual, and cozy flavor.
