Ten-Six Sunrise One
One October morning in 2006 I stepped onto the balcony just as the sunrise illuminated a diagonal swath of clouds behind a large pine down the hill. The rooftops and the mountain blended together in shadow. It was too light for stars yet there was a twinkling quality in the blue beyond. I saved the photo and began playing with it this morning, December 30, 2007, running it through a series of filter and light adjustment combinations in Image Composer and Photoshop. The end result is less a literal record of the sky and more a personal expression of my memory of the sky. I created two digital art versions of this photograph. The first version has an Impressionistic energy that hums with light and painterly texture. The second has a much simpler pebbled look as if it were an old time pastel piece. Both of images speak of the huge sweeping beauty of the sky and the stillness of the land. Truly hope that you enjoy!
